E-commerce Sellers in Guwahati: what the practice actually looks like

Guwahati is the gateway the rest of the country ships into, and that inverts the usual seller economics. Local origin products do exist and sell well: Assam tea sold direct from gardens, Muga and Eri silk, bamboo and cane craft, bhut jolokia products and Northeast handloom, mostly to buyers elsewhere in India. Many Guwahati businesses instead operate as regional distributors and last-mile partners for national brands. Marketplace fulfilment presence is limited, and the pin codes many sellers cannot service are a constant listing-level decision.

Guwahati is the commercial gateway to the entire Northeast. Goods bound for seven states pass through its warehouses and distribution networks, Fancy Bazar remains the wholesale trading heart, and the city hosts one of the world’s largest tea auction centres. Healthcare, education and tourism services here also draw people from across the region and from neighbouring countries.
