What you need
- A HavitoMail account (the 14-day trial works) with a verified domain.
- At least one mailbox — for example assistant@yourcompany.com — or let Claude create one with the create_inbox tool.
- An API key from Settings → API & Agents in webmail (it starts with hm_live_).
Claude Code
Run this once in your terminal, replacing the key:
claude mcp add --transport http havitomail https://havitomail.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer hm_live_your_key"
Start Claude Code and type /mcp to confirm the server is connected. Then ask something like: “List unread mail in assistant@yourcompany.com and summarise anything urgent.”
Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop’s config file starts local servers, so use the open-source mcp-remote bridge (requires Node.js). In claude_desktop_config.json add a server named havitomail whose command is npx and whose args are: -y, mcp-remote, https://havitomail.com/api/mcp, --header, "Authorization: Bearer hm_live_your_key". Restart Claude Desktop and the email tools appear in the tools menu. The exact JSON is in the HavitoMail MCP docs.
Cursor and other MCP clients
Clients that support remote HTTP servers take a URL and headers. In Cursor, add a havitomail entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with url https://havitomail.com/api/mcp and an Authorization header containing your Bearer key.
The tools Claude gets
- list_inboxes — see the mailboxes on your account.
- create_inbox — create a new mailbox on a verified domain.
- list_messages — recent or unread messages in a folder.
- read_message — full text, HTML and attachment list for one message.
- send_email — send a new message from one of your inboxes.
- reply_to_email — reply in-thread with the right headers.
- mark_read — mark a message handled.
Use it safely
Email is untrusted input: anyone can send your inbox a message that tries to instruct Claude. Keep tool-call confirmations switched on for send_email and reply_to_email, give Claude a dedicated inbox rather than your personal one, and use a separate API key you can revoke. Everything Claude sends is in the inbox’s Sent folder, which you can review in webmail.

Can Claude read and send my email?
Yes, through an MCP server. Connect HavitoMail’s MCP server with your API key and Claude can list, read, send and reply to mail in the mailboxes on your account, asking for confirmation before each action if your client is set up that way.
Is the HavitoMail MCP server free?
It is included with every HavitoMail account, including the 14-day trial. After the trial, Pro is $19/year (₹1,499/year in India) for 20 mailboxes.
Does it work with Gmail?
The HavitoMail MCP server works with mailboxes hosted on HavitoMail, on your own domain. It does not connect to Gmail accounts.
