Rajkot is a casting and engineering town. Its trades are diesel engines and engine parts, forgings and castings from a large grey-iron foundry base, machine tools, bearings, submersible pumps, kitchen equipment and CNC machining, spread across Aji and Bhaktinagar GIDC, the Metoda estate on the Gondal road, Shapar-Veraval and Lodhika. Much of the output goes into agricultural machinery, pumps and the replacement-parts trade, and Rajkot foundries and machine shops supply components to assemblers across Gujarat and beyond.
